Professor Chen is an outstanding alumnus of the National Taiwan University of the Arts. He has won numerous awards at home and abroad and is regarded as a representative of the mid-generation sculptors. His professionalism is based on the reflection of the tradition on the axis of modernity. From the presentation of a single character or thing during the Renaissance period, to the connection with life experience, the individualized expression of the artist based on rational analysis has gained importance. Therefore, Professor Chen believes that after observing and understanding certain images, we can adopt analytical methods and certain techniques of expression for composition, conception and image formation. And this is an awareness that a contemporary sculptor with a global perspective must have.
The "Be Water" series continues the previous "Original" series and "Life and Vitalitytwo" series. Inaddition to the individual's recognition of life and the exploration of the essence of life, it further considers the commonalities between different lives, as well as the imaginations sparkled by internal and external spaces of images among the viewers. As the basic element of life, water vividly combines seeds, frameworks, and tree trunks. Through the use of different materials, the warm tones and texture of the wood are combined with the cold object that shows the transparent texture, so as to create an image of isolation and the harmonious beauty among the soft yet hard and warm yet cold visual senses.
This exhibition offers great resource of educational materials for school and community activities. We are looking forward to seeing you at the art center and enjoy the indicative and functional aesthetic space.
