The National Chung Hsing University Art Center's first art exhibition of the year invites renowned Taiwanese artist, Professor Wang Chun-Sheng to hold the " Intended Creation of Nature: A Solo Exhibition of Wang Chun-Sheng's Paintings" on campus. This exhibition will take place from February 29 to March 24, 2024. Professor Wang has been proficient in watercolor, acrylic and ink paintings for decades, emphasizing both creativity and theory. He has mastered the characteristics and differences of various media and later applied his knowledge to ink painting. This exhibition showcases nearly seventy pieces of artwork, combining Eastern spatial perception with Western perspective. Professor Wang skillfully integrates realistic watercolor images, acrylic dimensional textures, and metaphysical ink charm, reflecting his unique and delicate observations of nature and aesthetics.
Professor Wang Chun-Sheng was born in 1962 in Beimen Township, Tainan County, and moved to Kaohsiung City in his early years. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Painting and Calligraphy Arts at National Taiwan University of Arts. Currently, he serves as an associate professor in the same department at National Taiwan University of Arts. Professor Wang received artistic guidance from renowned masters such as Xue Qing-Mao, Cai Mao-Song, and Lin Jin-Zhong. He also studied calligraphy under Guo Chun-Fu and literary writing under Li Bing and Lin Wen-Qin. His works have received numerous accolades, including the first place of Chinese painting category in the Taiwan Provincial Art Exhibition, the first place in watercolor painting category in the Armed Golden Statue Awards for Literature and Art, and second place of ink painting category in the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition of Taichung City. Additionally, He has been granted permanent exemption from review for watercolor and acrylic categories in the Kaohsiung County Art Exhibition and permanent exemption for the ink painting category in the Kaohsiung City Art Exhibition. He has also served as a judge for national art exhibitions. Professor Wang has participated in countless solo and group exhibitions, and his works are widely collected by art and cultural institutions as well as private enterprises.
This exhibition primarily features Professor Wang Chun-Sheng's works from 2012 to 2024, expressing philosophical thoughts about learning from nature and introspecting the mind. The composition of the paintings articulates the process of self-exploration. Through subjective color techniques, variations in colors across different times and spaces, layers of light and shadow, perspective overlays, and image misplacements, the multiple visual representations aim to reflect the emotions, scenes, and situations of the creative process under the theme of "human." This achieves a new modern style in traditional Chinese ink painting.
Professor Wang believes that although everything in the universe has its unique appearance, there is still an immutable truth. While artistic expressions may vary due to differences in time and space, the essence of artistic creation transcends these boundaries. It involves the observation of objects, the expression of emotions, and the portrayal of the artistic world within oneself. Welcome everyone to visit and appreciate the exhibition.
