MISSION
The Art Center was established to immerse everyone in a great atmosphere of art through exhibitions, performances, and various workshops. Our mission is to provide opportunities to nurture our students with international visions of art and their interests through social engagements in the art center. We believe that we can bring peace of mind into life and grow humanity in the heart to cope up with various obstacles in life through a balanced spirit by appreciating the beauty of art.
STATUS
The Art Center was established in 1988, it is the first art center in a university approved by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. The art center boasts an exhibition area over 662 square meters and is conveniently located in the heart of Taichung City. Meanwhile, it also provides high quality collection room that has brought many artists' interests to donate their masterpieces to NCHU. After 28 years' efforts, there are currently over 1,500 collections with a great diversities, rich assortment of art works such as Chinese Calligraphy, Ink Painting, Seal Engraving, Oil Painting, Watercolor Painting, Gouache Painting, Sculpture, Photography and New Media Arts etc. There were already over 24 albums published to extend the Influence and contribution of art.
VISION
For spreading the Influence of aesthetics education, we're looking forward to share our collections and exhibitions online in the coming future. This offers everyone a quick access to appreciate numerous valuable art works and also provides a great resource of educational materials for school learning and community activities. With the concept of humanism, the Art Center envisions enriching our collections of both classical and modern and combines the ideas of culture and creativity.
