An artist's upbringing and experience will inevitably influence the style in which he or she creates. Since his father worked in the Forestry Bureau, Liu Chang-hong has been living in the forest since he was a child, and so, he is familiar with the characteristics of cypress, Formosan michelia, Taxus chinensis, camphor and other woods. The courses of design, Chinese calligraphy and Western sketching courses he took in his youth have become the foundation for his future work, allowing him to wander freely between rationality and sensuality of art and achieve the "free divinity" in his style.
Liu's classic works include the four themes of " Past Childhood", "Feelings for the Hometown", "Flower and Grass" and "Poetry and Painting", which perfectly recreate the carefree days of childhood and the scenic scenery of the countryside and fields from the past. His works incorporate compositions of bamboo sculptures with changes in the shape and structure and poetic elegance to give a sense of " freehand brushwork". The “Wind Series” is also his work in the later stage, which expresses the immaterial movement of the wind through sculpture that retains a moment of eternity.
This exhibition offers great resource of educational materials for school and community activities. We are looking forward to seeing you at the art center and enjoy the indicative and functional aesthetic space.
