This exhibition is staged at the Art Center of NCHU from 5th Dec., 2020 to 4th Jan., 2021. It leads visitors to view the vitality of art from the island and the unique things which breeds by describing the rock layers, the ocean and beautiful landscapes in different periods.

Based on the experience of pursuing aesthetic island art, the artist created the "Island・Travel" series, which got cultural resonance. The works of "Island・Travel" series includes three parts. The first one "Bright Pearl at Sea" is mainly about Taiwan charm, which presents the native land in the past years, daily utensils and bowls full of memories of the times, urban land and different buildings, and common memories of the hard life in the island. The second part "Listening to the Island" describes the tides and tells the time and eternal life of the island, which displays a passionate and changeable local culture through sparrows, stones, flowers and plants. The third part "Life Sketch" describes the life in the island, an important medium for perceiving and remembering life. Life described through the changeable nature in works of this part is visual impressive, boundless, lonely, full of trials and hardship and joy, which expresses the extension of "Island • Travel" that the artist intends to reveal.

Huang, Teng-Hsuan received her MA degree from the National Taichung University of Education. She is currently teaching as an assistant professor at the Overseas Chinese University and also the chairman of Taichung Changhua Art Association. Her paintings were awarded the first prize of Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, the first prize of National Taocheng Art Exhibition and the third place of Olympic Arts Competitions London etc.. The year before last, she was invited to Paris, France, where she held a solo exhibition in the century-old Atomic Gallery, adjacent to the Louvre Museum, which attracted much attention. In the past, she was even invited to Washington DC, New York, Paris, Spain, Beijing, Japan and other places to present her exhibition that her works are highly praised and loved by the local art community. This is her 21st solo exhibition.

The 50 works of art demonstrate Huang's easy and adaptable approach to the wonders and beauty of the world and its surroundings, both "small and big". The beauty of our surroundings, once skillfully handled, becomes a masterpiece that extends to the boundless mountains and seas. Once she said "Everything can be viewed and no doubt turned into a big piece of writing". If we take a closer look, we can also feel the sentiment of "The Sumeru keeps in mustard seeds while a mustard seed takes in the Sumeru," as expressed by the Chinese philosophers.

This exhibition offers great resource of educational materials for school and community activities. We are looking forward to seeing you at the art center and enjoy the indicative and functional aesthetic space.
