An art exhibition of Wu, Jung-Tsung will be held from 27th Nov. to 23rd Dec., 2018 at the Art Center of NCHU. This exhibition offers great resource of educational materials for school and community activities. Wu, Jung-Tsung, who is currently teaching at Overseas Chinese University, has been praised as “a creative painter of ink and color". After many years of effort, Wu has attempted to fuse Eastern and Western painting techniques and concepts, and has sought diligently to perfect his painting composition and coloring techniques employing dark ink and deep colors. He also incorporated the characteristics of prints into his works that forming unique style of fascinating grain and layers. He achieves an intriguing modern aesthetic that viewers have been favorably taken by the resplendent images of his works.
These exhibits present his further groundbreaking works following his evolution from experimental ink paintings. Wu likes to take flowers that are commonly seen in daily life as his topic of paintings which are made by ink and color, acrylic, oil paint and multimedia. He employs techniques such as cutting, dislocation, and overlapping to highlight the key vision of flowers, and he also add decorative elements and an appealingly rustic play of light and dark using black ink to his works. His usage of these methods not only signify his subversion of traditional Eastern ink painting conventions, but also reveal the successful incorporation of an enriching sense of modernity and visual interest in his ink and color paintings.
